When you think about impacting the world, you usually connect that idea with money. It is understandable to link “helping” with “donating or spending,” yet we live in a world where the chances to make things better are almost endless.
A few days ago someone asked me what legacy I wanted to leave and what my mission was with everything I am building. Without hesitating I answered that it was simple: bring back the values that keep fading in our society. So here are practical ideas for how you can positively impact the world without spending thousands of dollars every month.

It sounds basic and like common sense, yet when you pause for a second you realize this value is disappearing. How many relatives or friends do you know who show no respect to the garbage collector, the waiter, or the older person crossing the street slowly? Stop getting angry at others and accept that every person is different. If everyone practiced this kind of respect, many problems would simply vanish.
Children copy what they see in their parents. Before you say or do something that sets a bad example, ask yourself one simple question: What would I think of my child if they had done or said that? Leave a legacy through responsible kids who grow up with empathy and respect for others.
Whether you have kids or not, you sometimes meet people who need someone to show them the way. It could be a career path, education, or launching an art project. If you have experience and a solid track record, do not hesitate to help someone with real potential that you can support.
It is not normal that in 2019 we still find garbage in the streets. Stop blaming your local government, factories, or other people for a dirty city. It is everyone’s responsibility in a community to take part in environmental well-being and keeping the place clean. It costs you nothing to stop throwing trash on the street. Keep that napkin or plastic cup with you until you find a bin.
It can be through associations, local government, business groups, and more. There are many ways today to join a cause that helps people, the city, the environment, and so on. It costs you nothing more than a little time each month.
Instead of waiting for your next garage sale or some special date on the calendar, donate that clothing, microwave, or toy to someone who truly needs it. You will not only help a person or a family. You will also grow as a person.

A week ago I was in Mexico City at a restaurant in Polanco. The weather was perfect so I chose to eat on the terrace. A few sisters started walking around asking people for food or money. My dessert was huge and I had more than I could finish. So I invited them to sit down and eat it while I paid the bill.
