Many clients in our consulting program<\/a> for new entrepreneurs ask which industry they should jump into. It is a slightly odd question because it means you are not focusing on the right questions. When you decide to start a business, your main concern should not be figuring out which industry will make you the most money. Here are the questions you should actually ask yourself:<\/p>\n

1- Why do I want to open this business?<\/h3>\n

This first question is critical because starting a business involves expenses, time, commitment, and plenty of sacrifice. If you are deciding to open a business, you need to know in advance what you are really getting into. This is not like changing shirts between two meetings. It is a complicated, exhausting process that demands real understanding and steel-level mental strength.<\/p>\n

2- What problem or demand am I answering with my project?<\/h3>\n

When you launch a business, if your only focus is opening it to make money (we all want money, that is not the issue), you are already losing. The only way you will sell enough despite existing competition is if you focus on solving a real need for your customers. In many cases, customers do not even know they have that need until you offer them the solution.<\/p>\n

3- What value can I add to my customers, my community, or the world with my business?<\/h3>\n

The more value you add to the world, the more value you will receive. “Give to receive<\/a>” \u2014 your business is not only you, your product, or your service. Your business exists because of people: your employees, your family, your community, your customers. It is important to appreciate the factors that helped you grow and to give something back. It will not only be good for them or for your image. It will be good for you.<\/p>\n

4- Do I have the experience and\/or knowledge required in the industry to ensure a successful launch of my project?<\/h3>\n

Now think about the industry you are entering. Have you worked in it before? Do you have the knowledge required to sell something? Do you have the contacts? The industry you choose should not be based on what the media says has the most money. It should focus on something you handle well, something you feel comfortable with, and something where you can deliver a quality, professional product or service to your clients.<\/p>\n

5- Do I have a roadmap?<\/h3>\n

Before you launch, it is essential to have a roadmap<\/a>. Know where you are, where you want to go, which steps you need to take, and why. If you do not have a clear path from the start, you are running straight into a wall.<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/h2>\n

Do not ask yourself where you can make the most money if you open a business. It does not depend on the industry you are entering. It depends on you, on your product or service, on your preparation<\/a>, vision, passion, and commitment. Money is not scarce. There are good customers in every industry.
